The CW is one of our more favorite networks, as they currently are showing four of what could be considered Our Kind of Shows. Over the weekend at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour, The CW announced that they may be adding one more show to Our List, and it’s good news for all fans of The Vampire Diaries.

According to Deadline, amongst other outlets, serious consideration is being given to a spinoff entitled The Originals for the fall season. That’s right, a series about those wacky old first vampires, including… Klaus! Joseph Morgan is reportedly connected to the project, along with Phoebe Tonkin who plays werewolf Hayley on The Vampire Diaries.

The Vampire Diaries co-creator/executive producer Julie Plec will be writing the backdoor pilot which will air as the April 25 episode of TVD, and will executive produce the series should it be picked up. It will be set – and here’s the bad news for Klaus/Caroline shippers – in the French Quarter of New Orleans, which Klaus helped to found, and where he will be reunited with “diabolical protege” Marcel.

We’ll keep you posted!
