The script for Ghostbusters 3, which was written by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky (The Office), along with Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ivan Reitman has reportedly been sent off to Bill Murray for his approval. The script reportedly brings back the original Ghostbusters cast, who then pass their proton packs on to the next generation of “busters”, setting up future installments.
Deadline reports that director Ivan Reitman and Sony Pictures have just sent the script to Murray, and are waiting to make a move on the film until they see if the fickle actor likes what he sees.
An insider told the site,
“The studio won’t even think about forward on a $150 million film unless Bill has a closed deal and a commitment, It’s too huge a risk to do any meaningful prep, hoping he shows up.”

Ghostbusters III might, eventually be slated to hit theaters in 2012… maybe.
