Geek Tech: Microsoft Surface Redefines Tabletop D & D


Now this is a great application for the Microsoft Surface multi-touch computer. Students from Carnegie Mellon University are working on a project taking a version of Dungeons and Dragons to Surface. While it’s not a playable version just yet, it does point to the intuitive and enriching experience that Surface in can give to a recreational use.

Game mechanics– here are pics of the “control” tokens to interface inventory, actions, and such, chips in the individual pieces, and a dungeon-master backend on a separate monitor.
