Game of Thrones: Tyrion Lannister’s Squire Has Been Cast

Yes it’s time for another round of casting news for season 2 of HBO‘s Game of Thrones. One of our favorite characters and definitely one of our favorite actors, Peter Dinklage‘s character Tyrion Lannister will be getting a squire in the new season.

Access Hollywood reports that the squire by the name of Podrick Payne will be played by Daniel Portman (Outcast). Although Podrick appeared in the first book, he wasn’t included in the first season of the tv series. It’s presumed, given the casting, that the character will be older in the series than he was in the books, as in the books he wasn’t yet even a teenager.

In other casting news, Theon Greyjoy’s father Lord Balon Greyjoy will be played by Patrick Malahide (Law and Order: UK), and Oona Chaplin (The Hour, Quantum of Solace) has been cast as Jeyne Westerling.

According to Game of Thrones fansite Winter is Coming, HBO has confirmed their season 2 shooting locations, quoting HBO as stating:

Two additional locations have been chosen for the second season of the HBO series, Game of Thrones. The production, based in Belfast, Northern Ireland, will shoot segments of the new season in Croatia and Iceland. Croatian sites will serve as some of the Southern locations in the series while several scenes “beyond the Wall” will be shot in Iceland.

Season two won’t air until next year, so to help tide us over, HBO has released a new featurette, The Buzz: Game of Thrones, with interviews of the cast and bits from the Comic-Con panel. Enjoy!
