The sequel to Stephen Sommers‘ G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra has reportedly been scheduled for a Summer 2012 release. Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura recently revealed that shooting for the sequel is planned to begin in the spring of 2011.
di Bonaventura said,
“Paramount is very excited about us getting it going. No dates have been set. In our heads we think 2012 – that summer.”
Di Bonaventura would not confirm if Channing Tatum, Marlon Wayans, or Joseph Gordon-Levitt would be returning for the sequel.
“We haven’t defined it yet. We’re gonna keep that under wraps for the moment.”
Deadpool and Zombieland writing duo, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are penning the script to the follow-up.
