G.I. JOE 2: Ray Stevenson To Play Villain

Last week, we told you that Wonder Woman actress Adrianne Palicki would be joining the cast of Jon M. Chu’s G.I. Joe 2: Cobra Strikes as Lady Jave. Palicki’s character is the “team’s covert operations specialist and a love interest for warrant officer Flint” (D.J. Cotrona). Paramount Studios has now added more firepower to the cast with this latest news:

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ray Stevenson (Thor, Punisher: War Zone, Rome) has been cast as the villain, Firefly. Stevenson’s character is “a member of the villainous Cobra Organization and is known as a saboteur, ninja master, and explosives expert.” (See? More ninja action! See G.I. Joe 2: The Rock To Kick Cobra-Candy-Ass with Ninjas.)

Stevenson also joins Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Adrianne Palicki, Elodie Yung, RZA and D.J. Controna on the cast. Ray Park (Snake Eyes), Byung-hun Lee (Storm Shadow) and Channing Tatum (Captain Duke Hauser) are so far, the only three returning members of the Joe team from the first film that are attached to the sequel.

The G.I. Joe 2: Cobra Strikes begins filming in Louisiana next month and is slated to hit theaters on August 10th, 2012.
