Earlier this month, we told you that producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers: Dark of the Moon) recently met with several directors to replace Stephen Sommers in the director’s chair for the sequel to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. The directors in question included F. Gary Gray (Law Abiding Citizen) and Jon Chu (Justin Bieber: Never Say Never).
Now, Deadline reports that Paramount Pictures has handed the reins of G.I. Joe 2, which starts production this fall to director Jon Chu (Justin Bieber: Never Say Never). The script for the sequel was penned by Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
The Untitled G.I. Joe Sequel is slated to hit theaters in 2012.
