Frankenweenie: Tim Burton Stacks His Voice Cast With Old Friends

Back in August, Walt Disney Pictures announced that the Tim Burton directed stop-motion big screen adaptation of his popular short film Frankenweenie would hit theaters on March 9th, 2012.

Now, Deadline reports that the director has cast some of the voices for the film. Winona Ryder (Black Swan), who Burton worked with previously on both Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands will play Elsa, and Martin Landau (Mysteria), who won an Academy Award for his portrayal of Bela Lugosi in Burton’s Ed Wood will play Mr. Rzykruski.

Martin Short (Dorothy of Oz) and Catherine O’Hara (Cat Tale) have also joined the cast and will be lending their voices to five characters a piece. Burton previously worked with O’Hara on both Beetlejuice and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Short has previously worked with Burton on Mars Attacks!
