Fox has won a reported bidding war on Gotham, an origin story series that will follow Batman’s Commissioner Gordon in the days before he knew Batman, way back when he was detective at the Gotham City Police Department, investigating those nasty Gotham villains. There will be no Batman involvement in the show.

The series comes from Warner Bros. Television and The Mentalist creator Bruno Heller, according to Deadline who broke the story. There is no report yet about the time period of the setting nor of anyone else in front of or behind the camera. But allow me to reiterate, this is a series order, not just a pilot order; this is going to happen. Excellent.
