Whether you were excited for an American version of the BBC “Doctor Who” spinoff “Torchwood” or not, the status of this project has taken an interesting turn as Fox will not be developing an American version of “Torchwood” after all. According to a BBC Worldwide statement:

“BBC Worldwide Productions and the FOX Broadcasting Company have mutually agreed not to progress together with a 13-episode serialized ‘Torchwood’ format. We are currently in discussion with several interested networks.”

Jane Tranter, executive vice president of programming and production at BBC Worldwide had this to say about shopping other networks:

“It’s very much ongoing and very much alive.”
