First Look: Karl Urban as Judge Dredd

Back in July we brought you a report that Karl Urban (Star Trek, Red) had confirmed that he had in-fact been cast in the big-screen reboot of Judge Dredd as “The Law” himself. The film, which will simply be titled, DREDD is being directed by Pete Travis (Vantage Point) which is based on a screenplay written by Alex Garland (28 Days Later) and art by Jock (2000 AD, The Losers).

Now, thanks to the folks over at 2000ADOnline, we have our first official look at Karl Urban in full costume as Judge Dredd, wielding the Lawgiver during rehearsals. Check it out below!

Synopsis:

“DREDD takes us to the wild streets of Mega City One, the lone oasis of quasi-civilization on Cursed Earth. Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) is the most feared of elite Street Judges, with the power to enforce the law, sentence offenders and execute them on the spot – if necessary. The endlessly inventive mind of writer Alex Garland and the frenetic vision of director Pete Travis bring DREDD to life as a futuristic neo-noir action film that returns the celebrated character to the dark, visceral incarnation from John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra’s revered comic strip.”

DREDD is slated to hit theaters in 2012.
