Back in March, we brought you the news about Oscar nominated actress Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone, X-Men: First Class) landing the highly coveted lead role of Katniss Everdeen in the Gary Ross (Pleasantville) directed big-screen adaptation of the first novel in Suzanne Collins‘ best selling trilogy, The Hunger Games.

Now, Entertaiment Weekly has released a  preview of this week’s magazine cover (yeah, who knew they still printed those?), featuring our first look at Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen.

The Hunger Games is slated to hit theaters on March 23rd, 2012.
