DC has just released the first 5 pages of its upcoming miniseries, Batman: Arkham City #1. Scripted by Paul Dini with art from Carlos D’Anda, the six issue mini-series is meant to bridge the gap between the critically acclaimed video games Batman: Arkham Asylum and its sequel Batman: Arkham City that hits stores in October. The events of the mini-series is set just 1 year after the events of Arkham Asylum. Former Arkham warden Quincy Sharp has just been elected mayor, and his first order of business is to shut down Arkham and move the asylum inmates to a contained community at the heart of Gotham City where they can move freely and govern themselves called Arkham City. If that isn’t a recipe for disaster enough, Hugo Strange, a psychotic psychiatrist, has been put in charge of the prison city.
Paul Dini has intimate knowledge of the Dark Knight. He wrote the storyline for both games, so look for some teasers of things to come in the game; he has also worked on the TV series Batman: The Animated Series, The New Batman/Superman Adventures, and Batman Beyond. Check out the first five pages below.
Batman: Arkham City #1 hits stores May 11th. Batman: Arkham City #2 hist stores May 25th.
