Fan Envisions Animated Buffy Series, Is the Best Thing Ever

buffy-animated-wide

Like any diehard fan of Joss Whedon and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the series finale left a void in my TV life that has remained unfulfilled to this day. To cope with this loss I’ve turned to the excellent Dark Horse Comics Buffy series. It comes close to scratching the itch, and is even executive produced by Whedon himself, but lacks some of the soul that the cast brought to the property. I’ve come to terms with the fact that it’s as close as I’ll ever come to hanging out with the Scoobies again.

This morning I stumbled across something in the Buffy-verse that I didn’t know was missing from my life. Animator and Buffy fan Stephen Byrne has created a credits sequence for an animated version of our favorite vampire slayer’s exploits and it fires on all the cylinders. It captures the essence of the show and injects a bit of wacky spirit that feels right at home in the animated format. Some high points are a campfire sing-a-long with Sweet, Xander playing with a Serenity model, a ghostly Tara character. Check it out below!
