Panel bios:
Ve Neill is one of the most renowned make-up artists in the motion-picture business today. Over the course of her 30-year career, she has earned 21 international nominations and wins, including three Academy Awards, two Emmy Awards and four Saturn Awards. Her film credits include Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Trek, Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Mrs. Doubtfire, Stigmata, Sweeney Todd and many more. Earlier this year, she headed the special make-up department for Thor.

Frank Ippolito has been working in shops and on sets for more than 10 years. He is currently supervising at the Chiodo Bros., and has worked for Ve Neill, Joel Harlow, Kevin Haney and many others doing lab work and make-up on films including The Chronicles of Riddick and the second and third installments of Pirates of the Caribbean, as well as music videos for Marilyn Manson, Disturbed and Gnarls Barkley. He was a contestant on the first season of Syfy’s Face Off.

Gage Hubbard was terrified of Freddy Krueger when he was a child. To help Hubbard overcome his fear, his parents bought him a horror-effects magazine to show him how Freddy’s make-up was applied. That experience sparked his interest in make-up effects. He has been living on his own since he was 17 years old, and after moving to Los Angeles, he put himself through make-up school. He has been working professionally since 2005.

Vancouver, British Columbia native Conor McCullagh discovered Fangoria magazine when he was 16. He soon realized that if he could make clay pots and vases, he could make 3-D monsters. He taught himself to make a mold, moved to Los Angeles and began working for theme parks and apprenticing under John Caglione Jr. McCullagh eventually made his way into feature films and television, working on series including The Vampire Diaries. He currently teaches full time at the Joe Blasco Makeup School.
