FABLES Adaptation Will Not Be Helmed By Harry Potter Director David Yates

Fairy tale lovers, I know you have been anticipating a live-action adaptation of Bill Willingham’s graphic novel series Fables. Where ABC’s Once Upon A Time treads dreadfully close to Fables with their interpretation of fairy tale characters living in our modern world, it’s not Fables.

Unfortunately, Harry Potter director David Yates’s interest in this adaptation has put our hopes back on hold. In an interview with MTV, Yates confirmed that though he found it “a fascinating world”, he ultimately decided “not to pursue” it. This excerpt of his interview is below:

“I looked at ‘Fables’ about two years ago,” he said. “I think it’s a fascinating world, but it’s a project I decided not to pursue.”

Well, at least Yates may be taking on a big-screen adaptation of Doctor Who next! Who would you like to see take Fables to film?

Collecting Fables? I am! Here’s a link to Volume One of the hardcover collection:
