Jo_Lupo_2Erica Cerra, who plays Deputy Jo Lupo on SyFy’s Original Series ‘Eureka’ has been cast in the role of ‘Hera’ Queen of the Gods in the Chris Columbus Directed – Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. The new fantasy adventure film has an all star cast featuring Sean Bean, Pierce Brosnan, Uma Thurman, Rosario Dawson, Brandon T. Jackson, Kevin McKidd, Logan Lerman, Melina Kanakaredes, Alexandra Daddario, Catherine Keener and Steve Coogan.

SciFi Wire reports,

Directed by Harry Potter veteran Chris Columbus, the film is a fantasy based on the first book in Rick Riordan’s popular series. In the story, a young modern-day boy named Percy Jackson learns that he’s the half-human/half-god son of Poseidon (McKidd) and embarks on a journey of adventure and self-discovery that also involves warring gods. Cerra plays Hera, the goddess of marriage and wife of Zeus (Bean), the god of lightning.

The Canadian born actress also told them how it felt to be working with Chris Columbus,

I’m a big Harry Potter fan. I have all the books. I’ve seen all the movies a billion and one times. When I heard what Percy Jackson was about I read it and pushed, pushed, pushed to be in the movie. So I was absolutely thrilled when I got a role, and then I was sitting in a room with Sean Bean and Kevin McKidd and Melina Kanakaredes, who plays Athena. It was a wonderful experience, and I’m a very big fan of Chris Columbus, so that was really cool as well. In the novels, in the other stories, Hera and Zeus show up to help Percy, so hopefully they will also in the [sequel] scripts.

Erica, a Vancouver native is no stranger to Science Fiction. In addition to Eureka, she has appeared in Dead Like Me, Blade: Trinity, The 4400, Smallville, Battlestar Galactica, Reaper, and Warehouse 13 to name a few.
