Last month,we brought you the news that Alice Braga (The Rite, On the Road, Predators) had joined the cast of director Neill Blomkamp‘s (District 9) forthcoming sci-fi film Elysium, starring Sharlto Copley (Men in Black III) and Matt Damon (True Grit, The Adjustment Bureau), Wagner Moura (Elite Squad, Elite Squad 2), Jodie Foster (Carnage) and William Fichtner (The Dark Knight, Drive Angry 3D).

Now, Variety reports that Diego Luna (Y Tu Mamá También, Contraband) has joined the cast of the Sony Pictures film. Luna will portray Julio, who is the best friend of Matt Damon‘s character in the movie.

Production on Elysium is set to begin in July, and the film is slated to hit theaters on March 1st, 2013.
