Back in July, we brought you the news when Johnny Depp’s production company Infinitum Nihil and Walt Disney Pictures began collaborating on a feature film version on the 1970’s television movie and subsequent series, The Night Stalker, which followed tabloid reporter Carl Kolchak in his investigations into vampires, zombies, werewolves, and aliens.

Now, Deadline reports that writer-director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) has been brought on to direct the project, which may star Johnny Depp in the lead role.

No production or release dates have been announced for The Night Stalker.
