SYFY’S HOLLYWOOD TREASURE GOES BEHIND THE SCENES OF BLOCKBUSTER MOVIE THE HUNGER GAMES

NEW YORK – May 30, 2012 – Syfy’s Hollywood Treasure will take viewers behind the scenes to the real-life “District 12,” featured in the blockbuster movie The Hunger Games. Series star Joe Maddalena travels to North Carolina and acquires the auction rights to the Henry River Mill Village property, which is valued in excess of $1.2 million, during the Tuesday, June 5 episode airing at 10PM (ET/PT).

The Henry River Mill Village, a 1920s, 72-acre abandoned mill town located in North Carolina, exists exactly as seen in the blockbuster movie, from the bakery owned by Peeta Mellark’s family to the house where Katniss Everdeen and her sister Prim lived.

Upcoming season two episodes of Hollywood Treasure will showcase the Whitney Houston costume from The Bodyguard, the Wolverine claws from X-Men, the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and George Takei (Sulu) beamed up for his expert insights into a Star Trek phaser.

Hollywood Treasure follows Maddalena — owner of Profiles in History and the world’s largest auctioneer of original movie, television, science fiction, fantasy and pop culture collectibles — as he and his crew travel the globe searching for the most compelling, rare, and sought-after Hollywood memorabilia. During each show, Maddalena also presides over auctions where the collectibles are sold to fans and collectors from around the world.

Hollywood Treasure is produced by Gurney Productions with Scott Gurney and Deirdre Gurney as executive producers.
