Detective Comics #27, Featuring The First Appearance Of BATMAN Breaks Auction Record

Detective Comics #27 has become the most expensive comic in history. The book, which features the first appearance of Batman, has been sold for over $1 Million at an auction in Dallas. Just a few days ago, we told you about a comic featuring Superman’s debut that set a new record when it fetched $1 Million at auction.

Both titles were published by DC Comics during the 1930s.

Barry Sandoval of auction house Heritage said,

“It pretty much blew away all of our expectations, We can really say that Batman has nosed out Superman, at least for now.”

Former Marvel publisher Shirrel Rhoades said that the sales are a positive for the comic book industry.

“We’re probably seeing a little bit of a feeding frenzy”

The mint condition Detective Comics #27 was purchased from an anonymous seller, who paid $100 for it in the 1960s. The winning bid came in at $1,075,000.
