David O. Russell Abandons Adaptation of UNCHARTED: Drakes Fortune

Back in October of last year, we brought you Columbia Pictures announcement that David O. Russell (Three Kings, The Fighter) had signed on to write and direct the big-screen adventures of treasure hunter Nathan Drake, in the big-screen adaptation of the hit video game, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.

The last thing we had brought you about the project was star, Mark Wahlberg‘s statement that they were hoping to start shooting the film this summer.

Now, Variety reports that David O. Russell has left the production, reportedly over amicable creative differences, and Sony Pictures is now seeking a new writer for the project.

Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune is slated to hit theaters in 2012.
