David Fincher To Direct UTOPIA Adaptation for HBO

Our lucky friends across the pond have enjoyed the first season of a little show called Utopia and a second season is on its way to them shortly, and while I’d like to just have that series aired here, I suppose we Americans will have to settle for a US adaptation.

I will try to remain positive since HBO has picked up the series and Fight Club director David Fincher is on board to direct the adaptation being written by Gone Girl authorĀ Gillian Flynn. This according to Deadline. I just really want it to do well in the hands of the Americans and I know that there are shows whose adaptations are good examples (The Office, Being Human, etc.). I’m using my love of David Fincher’s amazing work in Fight Club to calm my nerves, and it is slowly working.

For those of you not familiar with the show, Utopia is a brightly shot, modern looking, but dark show that follows a group of people who met online all commonly interested in a graphic novel. The group discovers that a second manuscript has been written and they aren’t the only ones who want to get their hands on it. Here’s the trailer for the first season of the UK show, just to give you a taste of what we might be getting.

Trailer: Utopia – UK Series

We’ll be sure and keep you posted on the latest for Utopia directed by David Fincher airing on HBO.
