Darren Aronofsky Confirms the Title for the New Wolverine Movie

Last month, Hugh Jackman said that with Darren Aronofsky directing the next Wolverine movie, it won’t be the “usual” X-Men movie, it will be “out of the box“, “very different” and that “It’s going to be the best one“. Jackman also said that “Aronofsky’s going to make it fantastic“, that “there’s going to be some meat on the bones” and that “there will be something to think about as you leave the theater, for sure.” That’s some lofty build-up indeed!

Now, director Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan) has spoken with HitFix and referred to the movie as a “one-off,” and emphasized that the film isn’t a sequel in any conventional sense. He also confirmed that the official title for the film will be simply, The Wolverine.

The Wolverine, formerly known as X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 is slated to hit theaters in 2012.

[The Shakedown]

After the first Wolverine movie, I’m really not too excited for this but I hope I’m pleasantly surprised. I do have a bit more confidence now that Aronofsky seems to be doing everything he can to distance his film from Gavin Hood’s first Wolvie movie.

As far as the title is concerned, I would have preferred they just called it Wolverine and dropped the “THE” from the title but, I guess it’s better than my previous ideas which were –

X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 – How Logan Got His Groove Back

and

X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 – Snikt! Bugaloo

Are you excited for the movie? What do you think about the title? Do you have any better title ideas than mine? Let me know in the comments below!
