Last December, we brought you news that Joe Hill’s (Locke & Key) cult horror novel, Horns, would be adapted for the big screen by Mandalay Pictures with Piranah and The Hills Have Eyes director Alexandre Aja. At the time, it looked like Transformers star Shia Labeouf would star in the role of Ig Perrish, a 26-year-old man who wakes up after a night of hard drinking and discovers there are horns growing out of his head.
THR reports that Harry Potter himself has been confirmed in the leading role. Daniel Radcliffe (The Woman in Black) will mysteriously spout horns as Ig and discover that the horns have a mysterious connection to the unsolved murder of his girlfriend. The horns have power that “drives people to confess sins and give in to selfish impulses.” This dark tale of revenge for his girlfriend’s death “explores why bad things happen to good people and what the loss of true love can do to a man.”
Director Aja “couldn’t resist Joe Hill’s Horns:
“After reading Joe Hill‘s cult book, I couldn’t resist temptation to dive into the devilish underworld and reinvent a universal myth. Horns is a wild ride of sin and crime, with a love story in its heart.”
Red Granite Pictures is financing Horns and will share in producing the film with Mandalay. Filming is scheduled to begin later this fall. Aja will be directing a script adapted by Keith Bunin. Casting is still in progress.
