We told you earlier this month that Lost co-creator co-showrunner, Prometheus and Untitled Star Trek Sequel writer Damon Lindelof was inking a deal with Warner Bros. Television to develop TV series, and that he was hoping for a cable show. Now we’re happy to report that it looks like he got it.

Deadline is reporting that the show will be The Leftovers. It’s based on the 2011 book of the same name written by Tom Perrotta, with whom Lindelof will be writing the pilot. If the show moves forward, Lindelof will be the showrunner.

HBO acquired the rights to the book shortly before it was published. Lindelof reportedly read it and loved it, and the rest is history. Here’s the book synopsis from Amazon:
