The newest cast members to join ABC’s No Ordinary Family are Cybill Shepherd (4Chosen, Drop Dead Diva) and Bruce McGill (Sweetwater, Rizzoli & Isles). Shepherd and McGill will play the parents of Julie Benz’s character, Barbara and Alan Crane.

Unlike the core family of father, Jim Powell (Michael Chiklis), Stephanie (Julie Benz), and kids, Daphne (Kay Panabaker) and JJ (Jimmy Bennett), the grandparents do not have superpowers as they were not in the plane crash that caused the family to develop these powers.

Benz talks about her character’s parents:

“They don’t know yet about what’s happened to the family. So we have to decide if it’s best to clue them in or keep them in the dark.”

No Ordinary Family premieres on ABC on September 28, 2010.
