CW Renews VAMPIRE DIARIES, But What About SMALLVILLE?

It comes as no surprise that the CW has announced an early renewal of its hit freshman series “The Vampire Diaries”, starring Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley, and Nina Dobrev. This show, based on the L. J. Smith book series of the same title, about a young girl caught between two vampire brothers has racked up ratings as the CW’s most-watched series with 4.6 million viewers and is the network’s top show in the 18-34 year old adult category. Its series premiere scored the highest ratings ever for the network at 5.7 million viewers, heavy on the 18-34 year old female demographic.

But what about fan-fave “Smallville”, starring Tom Welling, Erica Durance, and Allison Mack? The show is still doing well despite the move to Fridays with an average of 2.5 million viewers, but no announcement was made regarding the tenth season of “Smallville”. Sources say that the delay in news of renewal could be because that deals are still being finalized with actors.
