Director Jon Favreau (Iron Man 2) will be heading into production on Cowboys and Aliens with Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell and Harrison Ford very soon. The busy director recently sat down for an interview and spoke a bit about Harrison Ford joining the cast and about the type of character Ford will play in the upcoming film.
On Ford joining the cast, Favreau told MTV:
“Can you believe it? It’s amazing, I can’t believe it still.”
Favreau then went on to say that Ford’s character in Cowboys and Aliens will have something in common with some characters from his past:
“I’m trying to make him what we love him to be, Think about him whether it was ‘American Graffiti,’ Han Solo, ‘Indiana Jones,’ or ‘Blade Runner.’ He’s sort of that edgy, likeable but not likeable guy. I don’t like the cuddly Harrison Ford. I don’t like the sensitive, thoughtful Harrison Ford.”
“I like the Harrison Ford where you don’t know if he’s going to kick your ass or if he’s going to buy a drink and he’s clearly getting tired of hearing you talk, That’s the Harrison Ford I like. The one who’s heard enough from you. That’s the Harrison Ford I like.”
Cowboys and Aliens is slated to hit theaters on July 29th 2011.
