Could Anya Monzikova Play The Second BLACK WIDOW In IRON MAN 3?

Anya Monzikova (Surrogates) has a small role as a character named Rebekah, in Jon Favreau’s highly anticipated sequel, IRON MAN 2. In a recent interview, the Russian-born actress revealed that while she only had one role in the sequel, she ended up with another job on the set as well.

Yeah, I was booked on the job and after a couple of days of being on set, Jon [Favreau] was like, “Oh my God, you speak Russian, don’t you?” And I said, “Yes,” and he asked if I could translate a few things for Scarlett Johansson’s character. I did a little dialect coaching, a little pronunciation and translation for her. Afterwards, Jon came over and asked which takes I liked best for pronunciation. For me, who’d studied film, it was such a cool moment to have the director asking my opinion. It felt really rewarding — that I am in the right place at the right time, and doing the right thing for my career; because as you work and try to break down walls and try to progress, with each project you go a little bit further.

When asked about her character in Iron Man 2 – Anya said,

Well, I can’t really reveal too many details, but it’s a smaller part in one of the larger scenes. My character’s name is Rebekah. It’s a little bit of a heavy scene, and a climactic scene as well so I can’t really give it away.

The interviewer then posed the following;

Just to start a rumor mill: I don’t know how familiar you are with the “Iron Man” characters and other characters in the Marvel Comics Universe. But I know that Scarlett Johansson is playing the role of the Black Widow, and Marvel actually has two characters by that name. The second one, Yelena Belova, is also Russian, blonde, and has more than a passing resemblance to yourself. Maybe we could put a bug in Jon’s ear for the next film?

To which Anya replied,

That would be great! I definitely could show some moves to Robert Downey, Jr! (Laughs) I would love to do something like that. I hope that one day my training will pay off and I’ll get to use it. I have had some fight scenes in films before, but to really do some extensive choreography would be amazing, and a character like Black Widow — Oh!
