Comic-Con 2010: VAMPIRE DIARIES Cast And Crew Dish On Next Season

What’s next on the WB’s Vampire Diaries? At San Diego Comic-Con, a new trailer premiered that shared some tantalizing teasers for the show’s second season. Katherine is indeed back and wreaking havoc with the Salvatore brothers! Looks like Damon does find out that it was Katherine and not Elena that he kissed on the front porch of her house and what else? Check it:

  • Damon nonchalantly tells Stefan that Katherine kissed him.
  • Katherine came back for Stefan, not Damon and tells Damon that she never loved him. (Ouch! Poor, Damon!)
  • Stefan doesn’t want Katherine and she runs him through with a knife. Katherine responds to his declaration of hate for her by saying, “’I hate you’ is the start of the love story, not the end of one.”

Executive Producers Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec and actors Paul Wesley, Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, Steven R. McQueen, and Michael Trevino were in attendance at the “Vampire Diaries” panel. The next season of the show will have more plot twists and more supernatural delights! Here are some of the highlights of the panel:

Stefan embraces his off-the-wagon state. Williamson confirms Stefan going to the dark side:

“The thing that’s interesting is that Stefan is wrestling with the good side of him and how he rejects it.  This year Stefan is finally accepting that he is a vampire.”

Take a look at Katherine’s side of things. Williamson reveals that this season we will see things through Katherine’s eyes:

“There’s another side of the story we haven’t shown you.  We see Katherine’s side.  That’s the chapter this season.”

Vampire Diaries triggers its own werewolf storyline. According to Williamson:

“If you’re fans of the books you know the Lockwood family has a family curse that Tyler doesn’t know about.  He’s going to spend the season learning what triggers it, why he has all this aggression and anger issues.  He’s going to come to understand who and what he is… When the curse is triggered, we’ll have the transformation. It won’t happen right away.”

How many will die this season? Williamson teases:

“I don’t kill people just to kill people.  But yes, people are going to die.”

Jeremy’s fate – Did he turn or is he just dead? Williamson was non-committal:

“Jeremy is either going to wake up alive or wake up dead. But he will wake up.”
