Comic Book Fever To Invade El Paso

(EL PASO, TX) – El Paso hosts its first, locally established comic book convention from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on September 11 and 12 at the Wyndham Airport Inn located at 2027 Airway Blvd.

Organized by Broken Tree Comics, El Paso’s only nationally distributed comic book publisher, EPCON presents guest of honor and comic book artist Joe Benitez: former artist for JLA and Superman/Batman, and creator of Lady Mechanika debuting this fall. Among other special guests are Martin Montiel (Witchblade, The Darkness), Raven Gregory (Grimm Fairytales, Charmed), Eric Basaldua (Tombraider, Devi/Witchblade #1) and Brett Booth (The Dresden Files, X-Men).

EPCON launches with panel discussions, Yu-Gi-Oh tournaments, cult classic horror films, Cosplay contests, live entertainment and more. Lookout for The Star Garrison of the 501st Legion in full stormtrooper, imperial guard, and Darth Vader costumes as security. Costumed visitors are encouraged. A 2010 Jam Piece featuring a character drawn by convention guest artists is being raffled for charity and an EPCON grant is being awarded to a local non-profit. Raffle not included with convention entry.

Tickets for EPCON are on sale at www.ep-con.com and participating stores All That Music, Bersals Chop of Horrors, HappiRobot, and Beanie Planet: $15 one day and $25 both days. A $5 military discount is available with valid ID.
