Classic fairy tales have captivated children for years on end and who can blame the Hollywood reboot machine for finding this genre of fiction rich in content and potential? This year, we’ve seen Little Red Hiding Hood re-interpreted as Red Riding Hood from Warner Bros Pictures and Snow White is being rebooted by Universal, Relativity, and Disney.
Variety reports that Universal Pictures is also hoping to reboot Cinderella and are in talks with scribe Ann Peacock (The Chronicles of Narnia, First Grader) to write this reimagining of the classic fairy tale. Bruno Aveillan will direct the project. Scott Stuber and Pam Abby will produce through Stuber Pictures.
Disney is also developing a Cinderella reboot with director Mark Romanek (Locke & Key, Never Let Me Go).
No details about how Universal or Disney are reimagining Cinderella have been released yet, but are you interested in seeing a Cinderella reboot? What if they update the glass slippers to a pair of Jimmy Choo’s?
