Chris Evans (Fantastic Four, The Losers) has accepted the offer from Marvel Studios to play the Star-Spangled Superhero, Captain America. The deal calls for Evans to star in at least three Captain America movies, starting with The First Avenger: Captain America, directed by Joe Johnston which hits theaters on July 22, 2011.

Evans would also reprise the role in the Marvel team-up film, The Avengers. The Avengers is slated to hit theaters on May 4, 2012, and will unite Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, and Edward Norton’s Incredible Hulk.
