What’s in Houdini’s locked box? The legendary illusionist, Harry Houdini, wasn’t one to give away his secrets to his seemingly impossible feats of illusion and escape. In Brian Selznick’s novel, The Houdini box, Houdini dies and leaves a small locked box for a young boy yearning to become like him.
According to Variety, Chernin Entertainment, producers of Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Terra Nova, is looking to adapt The Houdini Box for film. Chernin has acquired the rights to adapt the book published in 1991 for a feature film. Selznick had also written The Invention of Hugo Cabret that was adapted for film by Martin Scorsese in 2011’s Hugo.
