Earlier this month, we told you that Idris Elba (Thor, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance) was being sought by Legendary Pictures for a lead role in director Guillermo Del Toro‘s (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth) forthcoming monster movie Pacific Rim , alongside the already cast Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy).

Now, Variety reports that Charlie Day (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Horrible Bosses) is in talks to join del Toro’s sci-fi monster movie, and will reportedly play a pilot in the film. The film sees a group of soldiers trying to save mankind from extinction by manning large robots to battle giant monsters from space that are bombarding earth.

Pacific Rim is slated to hit theaters in 2013.
