CBS Invites Us to Spend the Summer UNDER THE DOME

We told you back in August 2011 that Stephen King and Steven Spielberg were collaborating on a dramatization of King’s 2009 novel Under the Dome, for cable network Showtime. Then just last month we reported that the show had been picked up by Showtime sister CBS, and now CBS has announced that not only is the show going forward but we’ll be watching it this summer, and even announced the date and time: Mondays at 10/9c, beginning June 24.

CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler explained to the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour crowd that when Showtime’s option on the show ran out, she read the script and loved it, and foresees it being a big summer event for the network. “What we heard was this extraordinary vision for 13 episodes and beyond,” according to Huffington Post.

Under the Dome is the story of a small town that is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an enormous transparent dome. The town’s inhabitants must deal with surviving the post-apocalyptic conditions while searching for answers to what this barrier is, where it came from and if and when it will go away.

We are really excited about this project, and are hoping that the fact that the show hasn’t even been cast yet won’t be a problem…

We’ll keep you posted!

Under the Dome premieres on June 24 at 10/9c on CBS.
