We told you back in September that A&E is developing The Returned, based on the French series Les Revenants (The Returned), maybe with some Carlton Cuse involvement. Similar to ABC’s Resurrection which premieres in March, NBC’s in-development Babylon Field, and BBC American’s In the Flesh, the original The Returned is about people returning from the dead.

If you’d like to see that original French series, the Sundance Channel has acquired it and has been airing it. No worries if you haven’t caught it yet, because they’re showing marathons every Sunday in December. Here are the details:

Viewers can still get hooked on the engrossing, stylish eight-part French horror series that Entertainment Weekly gave an “A-” and called “eerie, tense, and highly addictive.” Beginning Sunday December 1st, each week, viewers will have the chance to catch-up on all previously aired episodes during marathons of “The Returned” in anticipation of each week’s brand new episode on Sundance Channel. Airing Thursdays at 9:00 PM, “The Returned” takes place in an idyllic French mountain town, where a seemingly random collection of people find themselves in a state of confusion as they attempt to return to their homes. What they don’t know yet is that they have been dead for several years, and no one is expecting them back. As they struggle to reintegrate with their families and past lovers, buried secrets emerge and new mysteries develop as they grapple with a miraculous and sinister new reality. But it seems they are not the only ones to have returned from the dead. Their arrival coincides with a series of gruesome murders which bear a chilling resemblance to the work of a serial killer from the past.
