The 20th Century Fox sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes, entitled Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, has begun casting its human characters. Most recent to be cast is the amazing Gary Oldman whose credits could fill this page. He joins previously cast Kodi Smit-McPhee who voiced the title character in ParaNorman.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is to be directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield). There’s no word on Kodi Smit-McPhee‘s character as of yet, but Deadline reports that Gary Oldman will be playing Dreyfus who is the leader of the human resistance after the the apes have taken power. Yes! Gary Oldman! Lead us! I love it.

I’m looking forward to this movie, for sure, but I would look forward to a peanut butter commercial starring Gary Oldman so I might be partial.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes starring Gary Oldman and Kodi Smit-McPhee is slated to hit theaters May 13, 2014.
