Casting Gets Rolling for A&E Pilot OCCULT

It’s always great news when a show idea we’ve been following actually starts casting; it gets us thinking that the thing might actually get made. We first told you about Occult, a pilot picked up by A&E, last fall. It’s a Michael Bay (Transformers) -produced series about an FBI occult crimes task force, centering on FBI Agent Dolan, who joins the new unit upon his return from administrative leave, so ordered after going off the deep end while investigating his wife’s disappearance.

Word now comes from TVLine that things are moving along in the casting department, with the most recent hire being Sarah Jane Morris (NCIS) as that missing wife. So presumably we’ll be seeing her in flashbacks, or… hmm!

She’ll be joining star Josh Lucas (Space Warriors) as Agent Dolan; Lynn Collins (John Carter) as his new partner Noa Blair who has her own personal reasons for specializing in the occult: Daniel Henney (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) as the Special Agent in Charge; Brennan Brown (Person of Interest) as the Asst. Director of the New Orleans FBI field office; and Agnes Bruckner (24) as a woman who gets up off the autopsy table and wants to join a cult. Okay

And of course let’s not forget one of the best pieces of news about this show, that we told you previously: the pilot is to be written by James Wong, who has written episodes of American Horror Story, The X-Files, The Lone Gunman, The Event, Millennium, and the underrated The Others, along with Final Destination and Final Destination 3.

Just one piece of clearing-up to do, though: this is apparently not the Occult Crimes Taskforce pilot based on Rosario Dawson‘s Occult Crimes Taskforce comics also picked up by A&E last year, with the Walking Dead‘s Gale Anne Hurd producing. Presumably, since the Michael Bay-produced pilot is the one being cast, the Dawson/Hurd pilot is either on the back burner or has gone, hopefully elsewhere for development.

We’ll keep you posted.
