Carlton Cuse is at it Again, as Alien Series COLONY Pilot is Picked Up by USA

Bates Motel Carlton Cuse wide

We told you back in May that the USA Network was developing a series with our beloved Carlton Cuse (Lost, The Strain) entitled Colony, and multiplying our glee is the fact that there is alien involvement in the proposed series.

The news is even better now, as USA has picked up the pilot for the show. While the pilot pickup doesn’t guarantee that we’ll ever see the actual series, it is definitely a step in the right direction. Cuse may soon be the busiest showrunner in town, if he isn’t already, with duties on The Strain (FX), Bates Motel (A&E), the upcoming The Returned (A&E), and closing in on an order for Civil War drama Point of Honor (Amazon).

It’s just more for we viewers to love. Here are the details:

USA NETWORK ANNOUNCES PILOT PICK-UP FOR CARLTON CUSE AND RYAN CONDAL DRAMA ‘COLONY’

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – July 28, 2014 – USA Network announced today the pilot pick-up of COLONY (Working title), from creator and executive producer Carlton Cuse (“Lost,” “Bates Motel”) and Ryan Condal (“Hercules”). COLONY joins USA’s previously announced drama pilot pick-ups of STANISTAN (working title) and MR. ROBOT (working title).

COLONY is a gripping story that brilliantly weaves together an intense family drama in an authentic, yet unknown, world,” said Chris McCumber, President of USA Network. “We are pleased to be in business with Ryan Condal and Carlton Cuse, who is clearly one of the best in the industry when it comes to genre fiction.”

COLONY is a naturalistic drama about a family torn by opposing forces and making difficult choices as they balance staying together with surviving the struggle of the human race. Set in the near future, the story takes place in Los Angeles, which exists in a state of occupation by a force of outside intruders. Some collaborate with the authorities and benefit from the new order, while others rebel and suffer the consequences. A co-production between Legendary Television and Universal Cable Productions, COLONY was written and is executive produced by Cuse and Condal.
