Captain America: The First Avenger – Red Skull Concept Art and Movie Image

Last Summer we got a look at concept art of the star spangled superhero and the god of thunder from Marvel Studios forthcoming big-screen adaptations of Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor, respectively. Then we had our first look at some official images from Captain America: The First Avenger, one of which was a picture of Hugo Weaving as Johann Schmidt (aka Red Skull).

Now, we have our first look at what Weaving will look like when he appears as Red Skull in the Joe Johnston directed film, opposite Chris Evans as Captain America. I’m pretty sure this is legit, as the style matches those that we brought you in the Summer of Captain America and Thor.

In addition to the concept art, SFX Magazine has published a picture of Weaving’s, Johann Schmidt wielding The Cosmic Cube in the film. Rumor has it that the cube will appear on screen prior to Captain America: The First Avenger, and will be seen first in Odin’s vault during the Kenneth Branagh directed Thor.

The Cosmic Cube

Few items in the universe could ever compare to the sheer power of a Cosmic Cube. The power within the Cube allows whoever wields it to literally reshape reality around him. Virtually anything is possible, from the raising of mountains and commanding the power of the elements to opening dimensional portals and transforming your enemies.

Thor, directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring Natalie Portman, Chris Hemsworth, Samuel L. Jackson, Anthony Hopkins, Kat Dennings, Stellan Skarsgård, Ray Stevenson and Jaimie Alexander is slated to hit theaters on May 6th, 2011.

Captain America: The First Avenger starring Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Tommy Lee Jones, Neal McDonough, Sebastian Stan, Dominic Cooper, Hayley Atwell and Toby Jones is slated to hit theaters on July 22nd, 2011.
