CAPRICA: The Final Five Will Be Televised In January, Bid For Zoe’s Iconic Dress In HOLLYWOOD TREASURE

Fans of SyFy’s canceled Battlestar Galactica prequel series, Caprica, will be happy to know that the final five episodes of the series’ season 1.5 will be televised back-to-back in January 2011. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, January 4th at 6pm ET, folks.

Executive producer David Eick was surprised that the show fell to the cancelation ax and that the network would pull the remaining episodes from their scheduled air times this month:

“I understand that these are rarely simple decisions and I know the current leadership at Syfy genuinely loved the show and were hell-bent on protecting it and seeing it succeed. Caprica was an extremely smart, unique show and it’ll take quite some time for me to get used to the idea that it’s really gone.”

The show had a loyal following despite being canceled due to low ratings. Earlier this month, a fan-based initiative to bring back the show banned followers of the show together in a visual effort to show network execs that the show was worth saving. “Save Caprica” delivered over six hundred and fifty pounds of apples ( as a nod to the show’s first season poster featuring Alessandra Torresani) to NBC Universal’s chief executive Steve Burke in New York. It has not had the desired reaction from the network yet, but SyFy has greenlit another prequel series in the BSG franchise, Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome, following a young William Adama ten years into the first Cylon war. Another shipment of apples will be bound for SyFy’s EVP of Original Programming Mark Stern in California soon. Donate to the cause here.

Additionally, fans can bid for Zoe’s iconic purple dress in SyFy’s online auction celebrating the network’s new reality series Hollywood Treasure. Check out the press release for more details on how to bid:

Iconic pieces and once-in-a-lifetime experiences representing several of Syfy’s hit original series are available for bid in an online auction accompanying Syfy’s new reality series, Hollywood Treasure, which continues with all new back-to-back episodes Wednesdays at 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. ET/PT. Net auction proceeds will go towards national non-profit KaBOOM!, which is dedicated to saving play.

This week Syfy fans can go to www.syfy.com/hollywoodtreasure and bid to win Zoe Graystone’s iconic purple dress from Caprica, worn by actress Alessandra Torresani in the series. In addition, the highest bidder will win an autographed season one DVD set and script, signed by the cast of the acclaimed series.  The package is available for bid from Wednesday, November 17-Tuesday, November 23.

Hollywood Treasure is a weekly reality series that delves into the intricate world of showbiz and pop culture memorabilia collecting, including science fiction and fantasy props and costumes.  The series follows Joe Maddalena, owner of Profiles in History and the world’s largest auctioneer of original movie, television and pop culture collectibles.

In an all-new episode of Hollywood Treasure airing Wednesday, November 17 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, Joe meets with Julie Dawn Cole, the actress who played Veruca Salt in the original film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  The golden ticket she holds in her hands may be Joe’s ticket to ride through his next auction.  In another all-new episode airing at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT, Joe hunts down a classic item from The Munsters, the jacket worn by Butch Patrick, who played Eddie Munster on the 1960s series.
