20th Century Fox has decided to play the release date shuffle with director Rupert Wyatt‘s (The Escapist) Planet of the Apes prequel, Caesar: Rise of the Apes. The film was originally slated to hit theaters on June 24th, 2011, now it will be heading to your local cineplex on Thanksgiving, November 23rd.

The film stars James Franco (Spider-Man), Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire), Brian Cox (Red),Tom Felton (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I), John Lithgow (Dexter) and Andy Serkis (Burke and Hare) as the hyper-intelligent, titular chimp, Caesar.

Caesar: Rise of the Apes is slated to hit theaters on November 23rd, 2011.
