What will be the fate of these five scifi/ comic book adaption shows? Early renewals announcements have already been made for shows like “Fringe”, “Smallville”, “Vampire Diaries”, and “Supernatural”. Of “FlashForward”, “V”, “Chuck”, “Heroes”, and “Human Target”, which are you still watching? Which would you like to see renewed? Let’s take a look at where these shows stand, shall we?
ABC has not stated their intentions for continuing either their “Lost” replacement “FlashForward”. Ratings for “FlashForward” are not very robust, having fallen steadily since the initial few episodes. It has dropped below a key threshold level in ratings and several cast members have been cast in other shows. Christine Woods, who plays FBI Special Agent Janis Hawk, has been cast as the female lead in a NBC pilot for a comedy called “Perfect Couples”. Ryan Wynott, who plays young Dylan Simcoe, has been cast as the main character’s son on NBC’s “The Cape” pilot. And lastly, Zachary Knighton who plays Dr. Bryce Varley is the male lead in ABC comedy “Happy Endings” pilot.
ABC’s alien invasion reboot “V” had decently strong numbers when the show returned on air two weeks ago, but the show’s ratings are falling since it came back. It’s lost a little over a million viewers since it returned to the air.
NBC’s “Heroes” will likely be renewed even though most fans have already left the show for dead. The show is one season away from being able to be sold as a syndicated show so there is strong fiscal incentive for “Heroes” to be renewed.
NBC’s “Chuck” is on the bubble again. Ratings fell after Daylight savings time, but the show has experienced an uptick in numbers last week. It’s not in the “Save the Show” mode just yet, but fans are poised and ready.
Fox seems to be optimistic about “Human Target”. The network has “been a fan of the show from early on,” but again no official word has hit about the series renewal.
Another ABC show, “Better Off Ted”, is also suffering from low ratings and will not likely be renewed (even though it is one of the most well-written shows on TV). But Andrea Anders, who plays Linda opposite Ted has been cast as the female lead in an ABC comedy pilot with Matthew Perry called “Mr. Sunshine”.
