Battlestar Galactica Cylons Tricia Helfer and Lucy Lawless have a plan. The two will guest star in Tuesday’s episode of ABC’s super-powered No Ordinary Family as baddies, the mysterious Mrs. X (Lawless) and Sophie Adler (Helfer). Mrs. X has “[tasked] Sophie to cast a spell over Powell patriarch Jim (Michael Chiklis) and his sidekick, George (Romany Malco).” No, Sophie isn’t a witch, but she is bewitching! Warning: Spoilers Below!
Previously, Helfer has been keeping the details of her appearance on NOF quiet, but in this week’s TVGuide, she reveals that her character “basically mind-controls them. Sophie isn’t Wonder Woman – she’s not strong and she can’t run fast, but she has the ability to make men googly-eyed and control what they do.”
Mrs. X, played by Lawless, has three-episode arc beginning with this Tuesday’s episode “No Ordinary Love” and is described by Helfer as “pure evil.” We’ll be looking forward to that!
Helfer contrasts their roles in Battlestar Galactica versus No Ordinary Family:
“In Battlestar we were more equals, but in this show, she’s by boss. It was kind of fun for Lucy to be very mean and controlling.”
Executive producer Jon Feldman talked about the casting of these BSG beauties:
“We’re certainly excited to not only have two actresses of their caliber, but also two actresses with significant followings. [Their appearance will] really amp up the degree of mythology and the cool factor in terms of villains. Hopefully, it’s stuff that fans of the genre will really get into.”
Let’s hope Helfer and Lawless’ appearances will help the show get off the bubble. ABC has recently cut the episode order for No Ordinary Family down by two episodes to twenty episode for its freshman season. ABC will run two weeks of repeats after this week’s episode and return with the last three episodes beginning March 22nd. The finale is scheduled to air on April 5, 2011.
