That lovely sound you hear is the final piece of Fox‘s Gotham casting puzzle falling neatly into place. Gotham, as we’ve been telling you, is an upcoming Batman origin series, focusing primarily on Commissioner Gordon back when he was Detective Gordon, the evil villains were getting their start, and Bruce Wayne was a preteen.

Gotham David MazouzToday Deadline broke the news that David Mazouz, who played the lead character in Fox‘s Touch, and who is now 12, has been cast to play 12-year-old Bruce Wayne. He had reportedly entered a talent deal with Fox after the cancellation of Touch last May, and had been penciled in to play Bruce by Warner Bros. Television Studios early on.

So now we have it: Detective Gordon (Ben McKenzie), his wizened partner Detective Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue), their boss Captain Essen (Zabryna Guevara), loyal Wayne family retainer and young Bruce protector Alfred (Sean Pertwee), plus the Penguin aka Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor), crime boss and nightclub owner Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) and even a fiancee for Gordon, Dr. Barbara Kean (Erin Richards), along with another newly cast character, Selina Kyle, a teenage orphan and a skilled street thief (Camren Bicondova).
