Last month, we brought you news of Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi collaborating together again to remake Raimi’s 1981 cult classic The Evil Dead. Original Evil Dead producer Rob Tapert and Ghost House Pictures will also be onboard with the remake.
At the Wizard World Chicago Comic Convention, actor Bruce Campbell addressed a few things about the remake and how it will be respectful to the classic and its rabid fanbase.
“We will be heavily involved in it. Sam Raimi hand-picked Fede Alvarez to direct it… It’s not like we’re just tossing this thing out and farting out a sequel. It’ll be kind of a hand-made movie with a young filmmaker who is more experienced than we were when we made the first one, who will be casting more experienced actors than we had, so I don’t see how it could be any worse.”
Raimi has enlisted Fede Alvarez (Panic Attack) to write the script with Rodo Sayagues and with Diablo Cody revising the draft. Considering that the original was made on a shoe-string budget, Campbell even described the remake is being more “sophisticated” than the original. Campbell will also indeed be making a cameo in the film.
