BROKEN Film In The Works, Score One for Indie Sci-Fi Fans

One of my first gigs here at SciFi Mafia was to read and review a little indie book titled, Broken by Susan Jane Bigelow about a young man who can see the future and a former superhero named Broken who has lost her ability to fly and her will to live. The two are tasked to save a child who has the potential to either become humanity’s savior or the galaxy’s doom. The book was earnest with a lot of soul, hope, and heartbreak, balanced a sense of gravitas with a good old fashioned sci-fi adventure.

Variety reports that Broken is being picked up by Benderspink for a film adaptation, and the call will go out to potential writers and directors soon. This is fantastic news; Broken is a great piece of sci-fi literature that deserves a wider attention. If they don’t butcher it sci-fi cinema has a classic in the making.
