Fans of Brian Michael Bendis’ comic book series “Powers” had better hold on to their hats! Not only is the comic book series being adapted into a television series for the FX network, but Bendis is also working on the series with Kevin Falls, the creator of 2007’s sci-fi television series “Journeyman” that was on NBC.
FX President and General Manager, John Landgraf says that “[Kevin] and Brian have got a good take on it. They came in about two months ago and pitched what they were doing, and it was great.”
“Powers” was published by Image Comics from 2000-2004 and then Marvel’s Icon imprint from 2004 on. The comics follow two homicide detectives, Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim, whose cases concentrate on incidences with people with superpowers in a world where superpowers are commonplace.
Word is that the pilot will be directed by Emmy-award winning director, Michael Dinner (“The Wonder Years”, “Miss Lonelyhearts”) and written by Bendis.
Falls’ “Journeyman” only lived for one season due to low ratings, but his work on it is a testament to his level of artistry on conducting and unfolding a complicated storyline. It seems like a highly-powered match-up to pair Bendis with Falls!
